Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM)

This occurs when the arterial blood vessel supplying the brain bypasses the capillary phase and flows directly into the draining vein. AVM can also cause bleeding in the brain but generally not as devastating as an aneurysm.

AVM can be treated by endovascular "glueing", stereotactic radiosurgery or open surgery.

DR MJD JACOBSOHN

Dr MJD Jacobsohn qualified in 2007 at the University of Cape Town. He then completed an AO spinal fellowship at the Spinal Unit of Groote Schuur Hospital.
